Before the first day of Investigation and Research (BIO2277), I thought the class was about doing research and experiments in a laboratory. However, the class is about learning how to research as a scientist, write like a scientist, and present as a scientist. Personally, I think this course is a necessity, but the time is too long. As a current student of this course, I learned about STEM, Daphnia's, how to write an abstract, how to conduct an experiment, and research using archives, search engines, and databases. I believe it would be best to take this course before Scientific Writing because it prepares you for that course by introducing you to the scientific components in a lab report. After this course, I will become a better scientist and know how to write reports an articles.
